About RootTrace Heritage LLC
Founded in Austin, Texas, RootTrace Heritage LLC is an independent genealogy research and consulting firm dedicated to helping individuals and families uncover their ancestral stories through rigorous, evidence-based research.
Our Mission
We believe that every family has a story worth telling, and that professional genealogy research makes it possible to recover stories that might otherwise be lost. Our mission is to provide thorough, honest, and well-documented genealogical research that meets the highest professional standards — giving our clients answers they can trust and build upon.
We are an independent research and information firm. We are not affiliated with, partnered with, or sponsored by any DNA testing company, genealogy platform, or archive. Our only commitment is to our clients and to the truth as revealed by the historical record and genetic evidence.
Our research team includes specialists in American records research across multiple time periods and regional traditions, European records research (with particular depth in German, Italian, Irish, and Eastern European sources), African American genealogy, and DNA analysis for genealogical purposes. We hold memberships in the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and follow the Genealogical Proof Standard in all client work.
Our Commitment to Professional Standards
Professional genealogy is a discipline with well-established standards and ethics. We adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Association of Professional Genealogists, which requires honest representation of our qualifications, truthful reporting of research findings (including negative results), fair treatment of clients, and respect for the privacy of living individuals.
We never fabricate genealogical connections, accept payment for predetermined conclusions, or present unverified information as proven fact. If the evidence does not support a family tradition or a desired conclusion, we report that honestly — along with our recommendation for further research that might resolve the question.
We commit to conducting a reasonably exhaustive search of relevant records before drawing conclusions, providing complete source citations for every piece of information in our reports, and presenting our reasoning in a way that allows clients and other researchers to follow and evaluate our logic. This transparency is what separates professional genealogical research from the anecdotal family tree building that populates most online databases.
